The "whole world" does not grieve on the anniversary of 9/11, only the people who were touched deeply by this tragedy. Here in London, it was on the news, but suprisingly not a single person in my office even seemed to notice the date, and I work for an American owned company.

London does however, or did on the first anniversary, grieve for the victims of the sunami, and continues to grieve for those who died in WW1 and 2, and of course greives for those killed in the 7/7 bombings.

I believe that humans only have the capability to deal with a certain amount of grief, or we wouldn't be able to function. As such, Americans and those touched by 9/11 will continue to grieve. Indians will continue to grieve for the attacks on their trains and Londoners for 7/7 attacks on the tubes. It may seem selfish, but people tend to grieve for tragic events that happen in familiar locations. Its only human.

Just wondering actually. What If the attack didn't happen in New york? Instead it happened somewhere in the philippines. Will the whole world grieve too and give this event a one whole memorial thing?

Kindle: Amazon's Wireless Reading Device

Not quite as good as a real book IMHO but a lot lighter than a trip worth of books. Also better than a cell phone for mobile web access - and that's free!
